Ivan Brice Architecture has long cultivated a special interest in restoring and renovating historic school buildings. We have completed a number of projects for Riverdale Country School, including restoration of the Main Building and gut rehabilitation of a historic carriage house to create new office and daycare facilities. We have recently completed a series of projects for the NYC School Construction Authority that have focused on repairing serious deficiencies in the existing building envelopes. One project replaced the historic copperwork and slate mansard roofs at the Henry Bristow Landmark School in Brooklyn.
Our work often begins with a condition survey and needs assessment report to enable our clients to better understand their existing structures and plan ways to improve their facilities. We are regularly involved in all phases of school projects, from planning and design to construction and maintenance. We understand the significance of historic structures and the character they contribute to a school’s campus, and we work to strengthen the long-term sustainability of these facilities.
We invite you to review the school projects we have completed, as well as samples of the condition surveys we have prepared as part of the comprehensive services we offer.
Our services for schools often begin with a condition survey or strategic needs assessment combined with a budget report. We are capable of everything from facilitating a master-planning process to preparing specifications and drawings for a particular repair or restoration project.
We invite you to review ways we can strategically help you to improve your facilities, as well as the full range of services we offer.
